I haven't had much time to play today, because I've been doing some Christmas decorating with my parents.

So these reports of getting on the roof without the cannon, and what you've found so far, I'm to assume this is a completely new way to get up there? If so, this brings a lot of things to mind. As you all have been saying at GameFAQs, it looks like we're going to have to start finding new glitches because of the fact that it seems to be running on a different engine than the original. But with this, it seems like some (read: not all) of the old glitches may be found, it just may take some working to find a new way to do them. Very intriguing.

Apparently it's possible when wall-kicking with Mario. Here's a picture posted on gamefaqs shows one method. Doesn't look possible in the original...

Wait, so you can wall kick and get back to the wall you just kicked off of, but actually hit the wall higher than you initially kicked off? Because that's what stops that path from being possible on the N64.

Yeah, I really don't see how that path is possible. If you can kick off and kick off again, higher up the same wall, surely you can just keep going up forever. Someone who has the game, can you explain it?
Interestingly, the first method I heard for getting to the top of the castle early (about 7 years ago) involved crazy wall jumps like that, although I never could get it to work.

I agree with Dom. If you can wall kick and then kick off the same wall just higher, you can get to the top of anything by continuing to do that over and over.

You can't, I had just enough juice to try it.

It definitely seems like it. I wonder if they just decided not to make it hard to get into, because they got rid of the "wall of water" at the midpoint of the tunnel too. Maybe moving the opening to the town up higher would have been to hard to do, so they just made it as if they meant for you to be able to get back in there.

Leave it to me to try every method except for the most obvious...

Hey, if you can get there without invisibility or ballooning yourself, more power to you.

Okay, I am so freakin pissed at the game right now....I won't give any details, because it's a new feature, but I'll just say that I spent a long time doing something, and all for nothing. I thought I was gonna get something big, but - - - GNAHHHHH!!!
