Super Mario 64 DS has, sadly, hardly any glitches. The BLJ no longer works and you cannot carry MIPS anywhere anymore. Here are some small glitches that are alright though.
The two most major:
1. This is rather like the Yoshi Suicide Glitch. I did it as Luigi, if it matters. In Shifting Sand Land, go to the pyramid. Climb up until you are above the platform you started on just to the left of the star. Stand on this corner. Go into first-person mode and keep watching Klepto. He should spend most of his time circling one of the pillars, then occasionally fly over to the grey structure with the shell on it, and back again. Keep watching. Eventually, hopefully, he will attempt to fly back to the grey structure, but will try to fly through the pyramid. He will hit it at a slant, and so will eventually be pushed to the opposite side to where you are standing:
The slashes and equals signs are Klepto's flight path. The square with pyra mid written in it is, oddly enough, the pyramid. The x is your location and the Is are the ramp leading to the entrance.
===== /_____ /| pyra | / | mid | / |x_ ___| II II II
This is what you want to happen, because it means that Klepto will then try to fly back to his regular pillar, but because he screwed up his regular means of getting to his grey structure, he will glitch on the way back. He should, after turning around, come flying along your platform from the side furthest away from you. However, he will be half merged with the ground and the star will be almost completely buried in the pyramid. So far I haven't been quick enough to grab the star on his way through, but it may glitch, it may not. In any case, it gave me quite a nice surprise when it randomly happened.
2. Getting Mario's cap, as Mario. Now I can't remember exactly how I did this, but it was very cool. I know that it was in Bob-omb Battlefield, and that when I did it, I could do it consistently past then. You either enter the level as Mario, enter as Yoshi an get one of the starting caps at the star-selection screen, or enter as another character and grab some caps on the way up. Anyway, after frigging around with caps and characters, I managed to get the Mario warping cap to appear at a spawning spot near the top of the mountain. The only thing was, I was already Mario! When I grabbed the cap, I put it on like you would with a warping cap, but then didn't flash as though I'd warped, it just sort of went over my current cap, and that was that. It was rather cool for a game that's all tight and non-glitchy. If you do figure out the correct combination of characters and caps, and how to do this, PLEASE tell me. I'd like to have a rock-solid method of doing it. Please email me at wpridmore@iprimus.com.au, or reply to this thread.
P.S. This may have had something to do with all the caps respawning because you enter a boss-fight, koopa race etc. I don't know.
Cheers, Franklint

Let's see if this ASCII works.

The extra cap in Bomb-Omb Battlefield is supposed to be there. If it wasn't, then instead of getting an extra life, something glitchy (such as screen corruption, Mario changing colors (cap-change animation), etc.) would occur.

Ah sorry, what extra life is this? I never mentioned an extra life.

Two more in Whomp's Fortress:
1: Through the fence:
Star: any, I think. If in doubt, select 1 or 2. Player: any, I think. If in doubt, choose Mario.
When you start the level, press L to centre the camera. In front of you you will see a sleeping Pirahnna Plant. Go around to the right of this plant, past the blue 8 red coin star marker. Jump over the fence and continue through the area that was not in the original. After a gap, you will pass by a second Pirahnna Plant. Just after a hole in front of you, there is a Bullet-Bill gun thing. If this is here, you are in the right place. Just to Mario's left is a big brick wall with the same texture as the rest of the level. Basically all you need to do is triple jump and grab onto the edge of this wall at any point. There should be a fence blocking you, but Mario (or whoever) pulls himself up through a solid metal fence.
TIP: The funny thing is, when I'm actually trying to do this glitch, it's a lot harder than when I do it by accident! I have two methods. One: Stand at the level border (wooden) fence facing the wall, out of range of the bullets, which are an annoyance. Charge up your running, do a single jump on the spot, then your last two going towards the wall. Two: Continue past this spot, on the ledge just past the Bullet-Bill gun thing. Make your first jump on or near the gun, jumping in the direction of the wall, parrallel to it, then you should have just enough room and speed to grab the wall on your final jump.
2. Funny wall (damn, I must have a major memory block. I can usually think of much cooler names than "Through the fence" and "Funny wall". Ah well.)
Star: any, I think. If in doubt, select 1 or 2. Player: any, I think. If in doubt, choose Mario.
I won't bother describing the location from the start of the level, but after doing the "Through the fence" glitch described above, go up the big stairs past the Thwomps. At the top of these is a set of small stairs with a Pirahnna Plant at the top. To the right of this is a steeply slanted wall. Do any kind of jump (the higher the better. Luigi may be easier?) with a fair bit of speed, so that pressing A at the top of it will make you dive, not kick. Dive onto the wall. Mario (or whoever), instead of turning round and sliding back down, he'll sort of... stay facing the same way, get his head stuck in the wall and slide down backwards a bit slower. I think this is because the slope isn't angled enough to count as a slope, but too angled to count as a wall. This also happens with Luigi's spinny bit at the end of his backflip and longjumping. And regular backflipping, too.
There we go.

Sorry... The left of the Pirahnna Plant, not the right. Also, when I say "that was not in the original", I am referring, of course, to the original N64 Super Mario 64.

QUOTE: "Ah sorry, what extra life is this? I never mentioned an extra life." I've done that glitch before. Maybe you have an older version of the game (each game has different versions, e.x. 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, even if they're the same game. Higher # = More Recent = Less Glitches), but when you do it on whatever version I have, an extra life is obtained.

UPDATE: Through the fence: You can go through the fence from any position, not just pulling through it. Using Luigi, you can use the scuttle in the air move to jump over the fence and float back through it. It is also quite easy to grab onto the wall from above using the same move as well.

And another on Tall, Tall Mountain:
As in the Mysterious Death glitch, go to Mysterious Mountainside. Face left as Luigi and backflip off the right side of the slide. Instead of aiming towards the ending cave, aim towards the tunnel before the ending cave. Oddly, it has no roof. Damn. I was hoping to be able to stand on it.

Also if you stand on the edge of the slide that is slightly raised and backflip as Luigi onto the roof of the starting cave, you fall through this as well.

Views of two more black rooms of death:
1. Climb up onto the small white arch above the door to the Princess's Secret Slide. Your head should go slitghtly into the wall. Go into first person and you will get some great views of the black room of death behind the door. If you look into the room from the player-select room, it's just blackness.
2. Just to the left of the key door in the foyer, there is a slant going \ in that direction Go into first-person here and look through the wall. You can see right through where the black room of death would be behind the door leading upstairs. Not all that good, you say? Well go through the key door, stand just to the left or just to the right of the door you came through. The wall is just like the foyer walls and the room looks awesome! If only we could find a way to get into either. Perhaps... No, I was thinking of BLJ, which is no longer active.
Anyway, I decided that I'm not going to eat, drink or sleep (actually, that's a major exageration) until I've found a way into the lagoon inside the castle.

Sorry, I was rushing. That's supposed to be "slightly" not "slitghtly". Also, I missed almost a whole sentence out. That was meant to be "stand to the right or left of the key door (at the spiral staircase room) and look through the wall. The black room of death has walls just like the foyer, not the regular wall. I can't post pictures because the Mac's at the shop (not starting up) and I'm posting on the Windows, which I don't know how to import pictures to.

There are some pretty weird things to be done with Luigi in the slide in Cool Cool Mountain. By doing his backflip you can spin out and to the left, and then curve around and go behind the start and do a whole bunch of weird stuff. Try it out.
